COMMUNITY TOILET BLOCKS

In addition to providing loans for individual toilet construction, the Odisha Federation and Mahila Milan also encourage the construction of community toilet blocks. Toilet blocks also serve as community spaces, with a space for meetings and functions on the upper floor. Demonstration toilet construction projects have provided communities with clean and safe sanitation facilities, improving their health, productivity, safety and quality of life. The UDRC alliance has built toilet blocks benefitting some 30,000+ families in the last decade. In particular, the story of the Balijhara community toilet in Paradeep where more than 2000 families were resettled is one of overcoming obstacles and perseverance.
